My first track is out
Fly Beyond is now up on YouTube.
Having released my first video, I feel all over again how hard it is to get something played. There is nothing for it but to keep at it steadily.
Where the song came from
The words and music of Fly Beyond came out of the night sky here.
Where I live now the night sky is beautiful and the stars show clearly. So on days when the ISS passes overhead I find myself looking up more often. It lasts only a few minutes, but watching it I feel a kind of romance.
Somewhere in that, I remembered that my mother held the same romance about space. Watching her legs weaken year by year, I wonder how many more times the two of us will look up at the stars together. I wanted to give shape to the theme of dreaming about space while she is still alive. That is why I wrote this song.
The story in the music video
I kept the music video's story as straightforward as I could, and made sure the ending was not an unhappy one.
The reason is simple: I expect space-related subjects, rocket development among them, to keep growing from here. If Fly Beyond were ever used as something like a theme song for a moment like that, I would be glad.
It is a calculating way to think about it, but I always treat images and music as one thing. So I almost always work with a specific idea attached — "I want this to play in a scene like this."
What comes next
I will keep making them carefully, one song at a time. Production is slow, but I would be glad of your support.
